elpa-ido-vertical-mode software package provides make ido-mode display vertically, you can install in your Ubuntu 17.04 (Zesty Zapus) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install elpa-ido-vertical-mode
elpa-ido-vertical-mode is installed in your system.
Make ensure the elpa-ido-vertical-mode package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep elpa-ido-vertical-mode *
You will get with elpa-ido-vertical-mode package name, version, architecture and description in a table
